How I gained weight travelling and lost weight at home

My first step was to check my weight.

For years I had been putting on weight. Although I ran to the station, and walked around shopping malls.

What changed?

Covid-19

Dangers were being older or overweight. I could not get younger. I could lose weight.

I had been eating at meetings: buns, pizzas, and chocolates.

I was helped by more meetings online.

My rules

Breakfast

Fruit

Seeds

Yogurt

Oats or Weetabix

What I cut out

Sugar - in coffee

No alcohol

No sweetened drinks

No Seconds (Later only half portions)

Exercise

Swimming/walking/exercising in bed

Keep moving - when waiting for the lift, walk backwards and forwards

When sitting waiting, repeatedly lift feet off the floor, click heels together

Exercise two limbs rather than one, four rather than two

Start exercise slowly so it is easy, and increase a little every day

Don't consider whether or not to swim or go for a walk; always start with at least the minimum. Often, despite feeling tired, bored, stressed, you find that, after starting, you end up finishing.

If you don't finish the exercise routine, never mind. Anything is better than nothing.

Keep a record of weight loss. You might not lose every day. Food take a long journey around your intstines before it gets out.

Why Use Lulu?

It's quick and easy and cheap.

Quick?
From the US branch I sent off my text and pictures on a Saturday night and got my book before the next weekend. (Other sites were promising your book in six weeks. I needed a book for a display table at a writer's conference. A typical writer - ENFP on Myers Briggs personality typing, I had procrastinated and left it to the last moment.) I must admit on a second occasion it took longer. You might have a bigger parcel and be out. You might have a national holiday making the total time longer. But now that they have a printing deal in the UK for us in the UK it should compare favourably with the USA.

After the book was loaded up, I could have it sent direct from the USA to a recipient in the USA in a hurry - quicker than posting it from the UK.

Cheap
Under £5 for a book.  Assuming it's a simple black and white book. That's just the printing. You will pay extra for postage.

Remember your print cost is not your sale price. You have to cost in Lulu's commission, your profit, and the fifty per cent markup if selling through a regular bookshop or on line bookseller.

Control
You have complete control - you can decide the font, text size, cartoons, photos, number of illustrations.

Private Books
If you simply want a copy of your holiday travels, or your memoirs for your grandchildren or descendants - or yourself in later life, it's a fantastic deal.

Somebody at my Harrow Writers' Circle said it's cheaper than printing off a draft to proof-read, using your own paper, ink, plus your time doing it and collating.
